Brian Carlton is a Geotechnical Engineer at the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) since April 2015, focusing on seismic slope stability, site response analysis, and reliability of offshore structures. Prior to this role, Brian served as a Post-doctoral Researcher at the Tokyo Institute of Technology for one year, where research included site response analyses and modeling shear wave velocity. Earlier experience includes roles as a Research Assistant at Arup, where Brian worked on marine renewable energy projects and cost estimations for tidal turbine integration, as well as an internship at Tetra Tech EC, Inc. Brian holds a Ph.D. and an MS in Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BS in Civil Engineering and a BA in History from Washington State University.
