John Ohnstad began their career in 1995 as a Sales Executive at General Transportation, where they sold transportation services and served as a resource for clients. In 2003, they became a Master Trainer for Schwinn Indoor Cycling at Core Health & Fitness, where they trained new instructors and presented workshops across the US and Canada. In 2011, they co-founded Rose City Trombones, a performance group that also provided educational seminars to students. John joined CAI Logistics in 2016 as the Director of Business Development and later served as the Sr. Director of Business Development at NFI starting in 2020. John also held positions such as VP of Membership at CSCMP's Portland Round Table and panelist at the Pacific Northwest Association of Rail Shippers. Additionally, they have been involved in the music industry as a Bass Trombonist for the Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra and Big Horn Brass.
John Ohnstad received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with a focus on Marketing and Music Performance from the University of Arizona in 1993. John also attended Dale Carnegie Training from 1995 to 2000, obtaining a Sales Advantage degree. John completed their high school education at Lakeridge High School, earning a HS Diploma with a College Prep focus from 1984 to 1988. In 2000 to 2001, John Ohnstad studied Strategic Selling at Miller-Heiman. In addition, they obtained additional certifications such as Vice President of Membership from the Portland Round Table in 2020 and becoming a Certified Transportation Broker from the Transportation Intermediaries Association in 2008.
