Minh Tran started working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at UC Santa Barbara in January 2014, and continued in this role until June 2014. They also worked as a Graduate Student Researcher in the Optoelectronics Research Group led by Prof. John E. Bowers at UC Santa Barbara from June 2014 to December 2018. In 2019, Minh Tran joined Nexus Photonics as the Director of Research.

Minh Tran's education history is as follows:

- From 2013 to 2018, Minh Tran pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara.

- Prior to that, from 2009 to 2013, Minh Tran completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from The University of Tokyo.

- In 2008 to 2009, Minh Tran participated in the Japanese Preparatory Educational Program at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, focusing on Japanese Language.

- From 2006 to 2008, Minh Tran studied Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

- Minh Tran completed high school at Phan Boi Chau High School for Gifted Students from 2003 to 2006, with a focus on Mathematics.
