Juan Antonio Clemente Fernández has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Juan Antonio has held various positions at Navantia, including Concept Engineering Transformation Manager since 2019, where they identify and implements modern design technologies in product workflows. Juan Antonio also worked at Next Limit as a Senior Modelling and Simulation R&D Manager from 2017 to 2019, where they explored new applications of core technologies and collaborated with industry partners and universities. At Next Limit, they also served as the PMO, overseeing project operations and managing R&D projects from 2018 to 2019.
Prior to that, Juan worked at Navantia s.a. for many years in different capacities, such as Department Head of General Design of Surface Ships and Department Head of Human System Integration and System Safety. Juan Antonio also worked as a Design Manager and Preliminary and General Design Naval Architect during their tenure at Navantia.
Additionally, Juan has experience as an Adjunct Professor at Universidad de Cádiz from 2015 to 2017 and as a Software Developer at SENER and Next Limit Technologies. Juan Antonio also had an R&D Internship at E.N. Bazán.
Earlier in their career, Juan worked as an Intern in the Systems Division at SENER and as an Intern in the University Towing Tank at Canal de Experiencias, ETS Ingenieros Navales UPM, where they worked on programming projects related to computational tools.
Juan Antonio Clemente Fernández completed their Advanced Studies Diploma (DEA) in Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid from 2002 to 2004. Juan Antonio also holds a degree in Naval Architecture from the same institution.
In addition to their formal education, Juan Antonio Clemente Fernández has obtained several certifications over the years. Juan Antonio completed the "Design Thinking for Innovation" course at the University of Virginia in March 2020. In 2018, they received certifications in "Model-Based Systems Engineering: Documentation and Analysis," "Models in Engineering," and "Architecture of Complex Systems," all from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 2017, they completed the "StrategyX: Business Strategy from Wharton: Competitive Advantage" course offered by edX. Prior to that, in 2016, they obtained a certification for completing the "Learning How to Learn: Powerful mental tools to help you master tough subjects" course from Coursera. In 2014, they completed the "Think101x: The Science of Everyday Thinking" course from The University of Queensland and the "Introduction to Systems Engineering" course from Coursera.
