Jim Welch has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Jim currently serves as the CEO of Nexgen|packaging, LLC, a global supplier of labels, tags, and other Brand ID products. Before their current role, they were the Co-CEO of the company and previously served as the President. Jim joined Nexgen in 2016 and has been instrumental in delivering quality products and design services to leading retail, footwear, and apparel companies.
Prior to Nexgen, Jim worked as an Advisor to the CEO at Cycorp, a company known for creating the world's largest knowledge base - Cyc. Jim provided guidance and expertise in leveraging the Cyc software platform to deliver human-like understanding and transparent explanations of its output and reasoning.
Before their role at Cycorp, Jim had a notable tenure at Motorola Solutions, where they held multiple senior leadership positions. Jim joined the company in 2006 after the acquisition of Wireless Valley and played a pivotal role in its growth. Jim started as the GM and SVP of Global Enterprise Field Operations and eventually took on P&L responsibility for a $6 billion business with over 2,000 employees.
Prior to their time at Motorola, Jim was the CEO and Member of the Board of Directors at Wireless Valley, an early-stage software firm specializing in in-building cellular networks. Jim successfully expanded the company's strategy and product offerings, targeting the 802.11 market and adding network management capabilities and service offerings.
Jim's earlier experience includes being the CEO/CFO of Metrowerks, a publicly traded software company that provided tools for developers on Apple platforms. The business expanded to include software development and services for embedded platforms before being acquired by Motorola/Freescale in 1999.
Jim began their career at Coopers & Lybrand, where they served as a Senior Audit Manager in the Technology Practice.
