Brett Johnson has extensive experience in the game design industry. Brett is currently working at Nex as a Principal Designer/Prototyper since November 2021. Prior to that, they were a Designer/Prototyper at the same company from November 2021 to November 2022.
Before joining Nex, Brett worked at ArenaNet LLC as a Designer from April 2020 to November 2021. Brett then moved on to Cat Daddy Games, where they held the position of Designer/Prototyper/Systems/Live Operations/Monetization from October 2018 to February 2020. In this role, they managed live operations, monetization, game economy, engagement and progression systems, and day-to-day shop offerings. Brett also utilized behavior science, data, and player trends to enhance retention and average revenue per paying user (ARPPU) through engaging systems and content designs.
From August 2015 to August 2018, Brett worked at PopCap Games as a Designer. Here, they focused on prototyping and simulation to support a rapid, iterative approach to design and production. Brett also utilized behavioral science, player segmentation data, and analytics to improve monetization of live games.
Prior to their time at PopCap Games, Brett held positions at Amazon, Z2Live, iWin, Inc., Microsoft, Sony Online Entertainment, and Gas Powered Games as a Designer. During these roles, they gained experience in various aspects of game design, including prototyping, AI modeling, and design consultation.
