Zahreen Ghaznavi

General Counsel at Newsweek

Zahreen Ghaznavi currently serves as General Counsel at Newsweek since July 2024, following a tenure as Assistant General Counsel at TIME from April 2022 to July 2024. Prior to these roles, Zahreen held the position of Senior Associate at Jayaram Law, Inc. from October 2020 to April 2022, and served as Legal Counsel for Success Academy Charter Schools between August 2018 and October 2020. Earlier experience includes working as an Associate at Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman LLP, and Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where Zahreen had a progressive career starting as a Summer Associate in 2013. Additional roles include a Summer Legal Intern at Advocates for Children and an Education Program Specialist at the US Department of Education. Zahreen began a professional career as a 5th Grade Teacher with Teach For America/UNO Charter School Network. Zahreen Ghaznavi holds a J.D. from Columbia Law School and a combined BA/MA in Political Science from Yale University.
