Michael Shelbourn is a seasoned engineer specializing in geotechnical and water management, with extensive experience in mine waste and water management facilities. Currently serving as Principal Engineer for Tailings & Dams at Newmont Corporation since June 2021, Michael previously held the position of Director of Geotechnical and Water Management at CMOC from September 2019 to April 2021, where responsibilities included corporate guidance and technical oversight. Before that, Michael spent over a decade at Barrick Gold Corporation as Senior Manager of Geotechnical Engineering, providing corporate guidance for various facilities. Michael holds a Master of Engineering Science in Geotechnical Engineering from Western University and a Master of Applied Science in Geological Engineering from The University of British Columbia.
