Ian Austen is a seasoned mining professional with extensive experience in study management, project management, and mining engineering across several leading companies. Currently serving as Mining Study Manager at Newmont Corporation since November 2023, Ian previously held the same title at Newcrest Mining from October 2016 to November 2023, where responsibilities included cost, risk, schedule, and scope management, as well as accountability for underground ore reserve reporting at Cadia East. Prior to that, Ian held various roles including Project Manager for Mining CAPEX at CMOC Northparkes Mines and Mining Engineer at both Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton. Ian holds a Graduate Diploma in Mining Engineering from Curtin University and a Bachelor's Degree in Surveying from the University of Newcastle. Key achievements include significant contributions to the PFS and FS phases for the PC2-3 Panel Cave Mine at Cadia East.
