Desmond Jimenez has a significant amount of work experience in the field of biotechnology and agriculture. Desmond started their career at Novo Nordisk as a Research Scientist from April 1993 until November 1995. Desmond then joined AgraQuest, Inc. in November 1995 and held various roles including Scientist and Technical Director and Principal Scientist. At AgraQuest, their responsibilities included managing the insectary, leading the technical product launch of Sympatic/GrobigBS, and deploying Bacillus as a probiotic in poultry. In August 2012, they transitioned to Bayer Crop Science as a Technical Director and Principal Scientist, where they focused on research and business development. Desmond played a crucial role in integrating legacy AgraQuest products to Bayer's Environmental Sciences group and expanding R&D-driven business development in biologics for animal health. Desmond also contributed to the integration of Biologics commercial seed treatment products into Bayer's CropScience business strategy and expanded the biologics pipeline into healthcare, animal health, and CropScience. In January 2019, Desmond joined NewLeaf Symbiotics, Inc. as the Chief Product Officer, and also served as the Vice President of Product Development and Manufacturing since May 2014.
Desmond Jimenez attended Scottsdale Community College from 1998 to 2000, where they retooled their basic sciences from Cental High. Desmond studied English Literature, Chemistry, Basic Programming, and Sex Education during this time. Prior to that, from 1980 to 1987, Desmond earned a Bachelor's and Ph.D. from the University of Arizona. Desmond'sfield of study included Nutrition Biochemistry, Microbiology, Entomology, and Food Chemistry.
