Timothy Elston

Associate Vice President For Academic Affairs at Newberry College

Timothy Elston has extensive experience working at Newberry College. Timothy started in 2004 as an Assistant Professor and later held various roles including Chair of the Department of History and Social Sciences and Associate Professor of History. In 2010, they became the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, where they were responsible for management oversight and policy development. From 2011 to 2012, they served as the Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College. In 2013, they were promoted to Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College, a position they held until 2017. In 2018, they assumed the role of Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Timothy Elston received their Bachelor's degree in Religion from Abilene Christian University in 1989. Timothy then went on to obtain a Bachelor's degree in History from Western Oregon University between 1995 and 1997. Subsequently, they pursued higher education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where they earned both a Master's and a Ph.D. in History from 1997 to 2004.
