Tracey Oakes currently serves as the Thoroughbred Welfare Coordinator at New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing Inc since January 2024. Previously, Tracey held the position of Animal Control Team Leader at Waikato District Council from July 2017 to December 2023, where management of a team of 13 was a key responsibility. Prior to that role, Tracey worked as an Animal Control Officer conducting various animal control duties. Tracey's career began at Anexa Vet Services, where from August 2011 to July 2017, a combination of veterinary nursing, reception, and accounts tasks was performed in a mixed animal practice. Tracey Oakes earned a Diploma in Veterinary/Animal Health Technology/Technician and Veterinary Assistant from Massey University from February 2001 to November 2002.
