Vanessa Oakley serves as the Chief General Counsel & Property Officer at KiwiRail since August 2023 and as a Non-Executive Director at Transpower New Zealand since July 2022. Previously, Vanessa held the role of Chief Operating Officer - New Zealand at FNZ Group, where the focus was on combining technology with global wealth management. Prior positions include Executive roles at ACC New Zealand, overseeing the no-fault injury scheme, and Chorus NZ Limited, where responsibilities spanned strategy, business operations, and general counsel duties. Vanessa’s extensive experience in regulatory and competition law stems from roles at Telecom New Zealand Limited and the Commerce Commission. Educational qualifications include an LLB (Hons) from the University of Otago and various advanced management and leadership programs at prestigious institutions such as MIT Sloan and Stanford.
