Patricia E. Dovzak-Byrnes has an extensive background in academia and social research, currently serving as Part Time Faculty at Hudson Valley Community College since August 2018 and as a Research Volunteer with the New York Civil Liberties Union since December 2016. Patricia operates as an independent social science researcher with Indy Inc., focusing on qualitative research, interviewing, project management, writing, and editing. As a business owner of Oystercatcher Farm since August 2004, and previously as an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Suffolk County Community College from 1998 to 2017, Patricia emphasizes intersectionality and the impacts of social constructs on individual experiences. Prior roles include Director of Foundation Relations and Grants Management Specialist at Long Island University, as well as Program Director for the Domestic Violence Coalition. Educational achievements include coursework toward a Ph.D. in Sociology and earning both a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Stony Brook University, along with an Associate's degree from Suffolk County Community College.
