Woelsung Yi is a Staff Scientist at the New York Blood Center, specializing in transfusion medicine with a focus on developing therapeutic strategies for transfusion-mediated immune responses in sickle cell anemia and immune thrombocytopenia, utilizing infection models such as Babesia microti and Zika virus. Previously, Woelsung served as an Instructor and Research Associate at the Hospital for Special Surgery, conducting significant research on T follicular helper cells in autoimmune diseases and employing various advanced techniques. Woelsung has a robust background in immunology, having held research positions at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and The Rockefeller University, where critical studies on antigen presentation and B cell development were conducted. Woelsung holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Biophysics from the University of Minnesota.
