Jonathan Bernat has a diversified work experience starting from 1993 as a farm hand at Pebblerow Farms where they performed tasks such as cleaning stalls, feeding animals, milking, equipment maintenance, field work, and crop harvesting. From 2007 to 2011, they worked as a construction worker at Snyder Brothers Construction, gaining experience in residential home renovations, new construction, and operating heavy equipment. Since 2011, they have been employed at New York Air Brake as a System Engineer, where they have been responsible for technical interfaces with customers, creation of technical system specifications, preparation of internal offers, requirements traceability, design reviews, commissioning of customer equipment, and supporting sustaining activities. Additionally, they have served as the engineering technical lead on computer-controlled braking systems for electric locomotives in the Chinese market from 2012 to 2016, as well as for rail equipment.
Jonathan Bernat has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University, which they obtained from 2009 to 2011. Prior to that, they studied Engineering Science at Jefferson Community College and obtained an Associate of Science degree from 2007 to 2009. Jonathan also holds additional certifications as a Certified Scrum Master and a Certified Scrum Product Owner from the Scrum Alliance, which they obtained in June and July of 2016 respectively.
