Jane Lake serves as the President of Step Up Education Initiative, where leadership involves managing community learning spaces through innovative technology. In addition, Jane works as a High School Special Education Teacher at New Visions for Public Schools and contributes as a Freelance Writer for Able News, which focuses on disability-related content. Previous experience includes roles as a Reading Intervention Teacher at Harlem Hebrew Language Academy Charter School, an Elementary Teacher at DREAM, and a Behavior Teacher at Oak Heights Elementary School, where Jane specialized in instructing students with behavioral needs. Earlier in the career, Jane was a Writer/Editor at the University of Oregon, developing math curriculum aligned with Common Core Standards. Educational credentials include an Advanced Certificate in College Advising from Columbia University, a Master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Oregon, and a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication and History from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
