Michael Sawaya is an accomplished executive in the hospitality and convention management sectors, currently serving as President and General Manager at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center since February 2018. Prior to this role, Michael held significant leadership positions with the City of San Antonio, including Executive Director of the Convention & Sports Facilities Department and Interim Aviation Director from November 2003 to December 2017. Michael's extensive career in hotel management began in 1984, with general management roles at various prestigious companies, including Omni Hotels, Bristol Hotels and Resorts, and InterContinental Hotels Group. Michael earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing from the University of Arkansas, completing studies between 1978 and 1984.
