Marian Matthews, J.D., currently serves as the Representative for House District 27 in the New Mexico House of Representatives, representing over 22,000 residents in Albuquerque's Northeast Heights since November 2019. A child advocate and retired lawyer, Marian Matthews has extensive experience in entrepreneurship and economic development, previously working as an instructor at Central New Mexico Community College where courses expanded significantly during tenure. Prior to that, as the Director of Development at PB&J Family Services, Inc., Marian Matthews successfully raised $3 million and professionalized development activities. Marian Matthews has also provided consultancy services to non-profits and political candidates, and practiced law for nearly 25 years in a private law firm. Early in a career, Marion Matthews worked as a journalist, receiving accolades for reporting. Marian Matthews holds a Juris Doctor from The University of New Mexico and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Missouri State University.
