Juan Zavala joined New Markets Venture Partners in 2019 and is a Principal. He is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and executing new investment opportunities as well as supporting existing portfolio companies. He serves as a board observer for BetterLesson, Climb Credit, CreatorUp and KidztoPros.

Prior to New Markets, Juan was an Investment Analyst at Siguler Guff & Company, a multi-strategy private equity firm with over $13 billion in AUM. At Siguler Guff, Juan was actively involved in deal execution and analyzing and monitoring direct equity and fund investments for the firm¡¯s Small Buyout Opportunities Funds, investing primarily in industrial, consumer, and healthcare companies. Prior to Siguler Guff, Juan was a Research Analytics Associate at Cambridge Associates, an independent investment consulting firm, where he researched and analyzed various private equity managers, strategies, and markets.

Juan holds a B.A. in Economics with honors and a Minor in Mathematics from the University of Maryland, College Park and an M.B.A. with concentrations in Finance and Entrepreneurship & Innovation from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a CFA Charterholder and a CAIA Charterholder. Juan is a dual citizen of both Peru and the U.S. and grew up in Germantown, Maryland.
