Director, Responsible Research & Innovation - EU at New Harvest

Dwayne Holmes, PhD has extensive work experience across various organizations and roles. Dwayne is currently serving as the Director of Responsible Research & Innovation - EU at New Harvest since November 2021. Prior to this, they held the position of Head of QA & Regulatory at Mosa Meat from July 2019 to July 2021.

Dwayne also worked at VUmc, where they were a Guest Researcher from June 2018 to June 2019 and a PhD Student from 2012 to June 2018. Dwayne gained research experience as a Researcher at ACTA (academisch centrum tandheelkunde amsterdam) in 2011 and as a Research Intern in child neurology & stem cell lab at VUmc in 2011.

In addition, they served as a Research Intern in molecular microbial ecology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2010. Dwayne worked as a Multimedia Producer in a self-employed capacity from 2001 to 2008 and as a Quality Assurance Data Specialist/Coordinator at Grace Analytical Labs from 1998 to 2001.

Their earlier work experience includes an internship at USEPA as an Assistant to Quality Assurance Manager, where they were responsible for administration, creation and management of the QA library, and coordination of meetings. Dwayne started their career as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Illinois State University from 1993 to 1994.

Dwayne Holmes, PhD has a diverse education history spanning from 1986 to 2018. Dwayne began their academic journey by earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Philosophy from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1990. Continuing their pursuit of knowledge, they attended Illinois State University from 1992 to 1994, focusing on Chemistry. In 1994, they briefly studied Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences at Northeastern Illinois University.

Dwayne's academic path took a different direction in 2009 when they enrolled at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) in the Netherlands. Dwayne obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Biomolecular Science from VU Amsterdam in 2011. Inspired by their studies, Dwayne deepened their expertise in the field and embarked on a doctoral program. From 2012 to 2018, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Neuroscience & Stem Cell Biology, further enhancing their knowledge and skills in this specialized area.

With this comprehensive education background, including a BA in Philosophy, an MSc in Biomolecular Science, and a PhD in Neuroscience & Stem Cell Biology, Dwayne Holmes, PhD is equipped with a broad academic foundation to excel in their chosen field.
