Kevin Hickey

Kevin Hickey has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Kevin began their career in the United States Navy, where they served as a Reactor Operator and Nuclear Electronic Technician. During their time in the Navy, they received commendations and awards for their outstanding performance.

After leaving the Navy, Kevin joined JVS - San Francisco as the Director of High School and Bridge Programs. In this role, they oversaw programs that provided job readiness training for young people, resulting in thousands of job placements and hundreds of students pursuing postsecondary education. Kevin also played a key role in securing funding and advocating for public funding for youth service providers in San Francisco.

Kevin's passion for education led him to join the faculty of University of San Francisco, where they served as an Adjunct Professor in the Schools of Management and Arts and Sciences. Kevin taught hundreds of graduate and undergraduate students various subjects, focusing on connecting class content to the real world.

In 2015, Kevin expanded their teaching career as a Lecturer at San Francisco State University. Kevin taught a wide range of topics to graduate and undergraduate students, including public policy advocacy for nonprofit managers and leadership. Kevin also took an active role in supporting students and helping them thrive in their careers.

Most recently, Kevin has joined New Door Ventures as the Chief Program Officer. Their role involves leading and overseeing the organization's program initiatives, ensuring their alignment with the mission and goals of the organization.

Kevin Hickey pursued their education in a chronological manner. Kevin first attended San Francisco State University from 1994 to 1997, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Later, from 2001 to 2004, Kevin enrolled at the University of San Francisco, where they earned a Master of Nonprofit Administration degree in the field of Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management. In addition to their formal education, Kevin also obtained a certification in Youth Mental Health First Aid from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing in February 2021.
