Colby Ray has a diverse work experience. Colby started their career as an Agent at West Campus Living in 2008 and worked there until 2011. From 2009 to 2011, they worked as a Strategic Business Consultant at RR Donnelley. In 2011, they founded CR Discounts, LLC, where they served as the CEO and Founder. Since 2011, Colby has also worked at New Benefits, starting as a Benefits Analyst and gradually moving up to Director of Business Development, VP of Business Development, and SVP of Business Development. Currently, they hold the position of EVP of Business Development at New Benefits. Their role at New Benefits involves offering various health and lifestyle employee benefits in one place, including Teladoc, Health Advocate, Dental, Vision, ID Theft Protection, Legal Services, and more.

Colby Ray completed a Bachelor's degree in Finance/Real Estate from the Texas McCombs School of Business. This education occurred from 2005 to 2009.
