Joanna Girardin Shapiro currently serves as the Chief Member Engagement Officer at the American Bankers Association, where responsibilities include leading the Office of Member Engagement and executing strategies to enhance membership and relationships with banks. Shapiro is also an Adjunct Professor/Lecturer in Real Estate Capital Markets at Georgetown University and has been a Capstone Advisor since 2010. Previously, Shapiro held the position of Managing Director at Bank of New York Mellon, overseeing various segments within the Corporate Trust division and playing a key role as President of Colson Services Corporation. Prior roles include Managing Director of Global Client Management at BNY Mellon and President/Managing Partner at Monroe Street Associates. Shapiro's extensive experience in the financial sector is complemented by a strong academic background with degrees and certificates from institutions including the University of Michigan, Georgetown University, Vanderbilt University Law School, University of California, Davis, and the University of Cambridge.
