Fiona Porkka has worked in a variety of roles since 2011. From 2011-2012, they were a Research Intern at the Duke University Department of Chemistry, where they investigated the surface make-up of carboxylate groups on melanosomes. In 2012, they were a Research Intern at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), where they investigated the effects of γ7 nicotonic acetycholine receptor (nAChR) agonist analogues in a rat model and in epithelial cell culture. From 2011-2015, they were a Research and Instructional Support Student Manager at Wellesley College, where they managed and executed multiple behavioral projects in mouse models. From 2017-2021, they were a Research Technician II at Duke University School of Medicine, where they designed and optimized Whole Body Plethysmography (WBP) experiments in mice to evaluate the effects of opioids and neurotensin receptor 1 ligands. Currently, they are a Research Associate II at Neurona Therapeutics.
Fiona Porkka attended Wellesley College from 2010 to 2015, where they earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in Neuroscience.
