Rita Hanson M.d.

Medical Director For Clinical Integration at Network Health Plan

Rita Hanson, M.D. has a diverse and extensive work experience. Rita currently holds the position of Epic Emeritus at Epic, which they have been doing since 2017. Rita is also the Medical Director for Clinical Integration at Network Health WI since February 2017.

In 1998, Dr. Hanson established Docudox Consulting, where they provide consulting services in population health, EHR implementation and optimization, quality improvement, and physician engagement and leadership development.

Prior to their current roles, Dr. Hanson served as the Chief Medical Officer at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare from 2012 to 2016. During this time, they were responsible for various areas including hospital and ambulatory clinic quality, regulatory compliance, and population health strategy. Rita also served as the Chief Medical Information Officer at the same organization from 2008 to 2012, leading various technology implementations.

Before joining Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, Dr. Hanson held the position of Vice President of Medical Affairs at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare from 2005 to 2012. In this role, they oversaw medical staff credentialing, privileging, physician relations, and hospital quality.

Dr. Hanson began their career as a Physician and Managing Partner at Westgate Medical Group S.C. from 1992 to 2005. There, they provided patient care and played a key role in implementing a fully integrated electronic health record system and a template documentation system for primary preventive services and chronic disease management.

Prior to that, Dr. Hanson was a Physician and Vice President at Internal Medicine Physicians, S.C. from 1982 to 1992.

Rita Hanson M.D. pursued their undergraduate studies from 1970 to 1973 at Marquette University where they focused on Biology/Biological Sciences. Following their undergraduate studies, they attended Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine from 1973 to 1976, where they obtained their Medical Doctor (MD) degree in the field of Medicine.
