Ashby Monk has worked in a variety of roles in the finance and investment industry since 2011. Ashby began their career at Stanford University as the Executive & Research Director of the Stanford Long-Term Investing and Executive Director of the Global Projects Center. In 2015, they became a Co-Founder and Board Member of Long Game. In 2016, they became the Chief Strategy Officer and Co-Founder of thirdACT PBC. In 2017, they became President and Co-Founder of Real Capital Innovation. In 2018, they became a Senior Advisor at FutureProof Technologies, a Board Member and Co-Founder of Net Purpose, and a Senior Advisor at the Long-Term Stock Exchange. In 2021, they became the Head of Research at Addepar via its acquisition of Real Capital Innovation, a Founding Advisor at Deception And Truth Analysis (D.A.T.A.), Inc, and a Board Member at EHA Advisory.

Ashby Monk obtained their AB in Economics from Princeton University between 1995 and 2000. Ashby then went on to receive an MA in International Economics from the University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne from 2003 to 2004. Finally, they earned their PhD in Economic Geography from the University of Oxford between 2005 and 2008.
