Yigal Barkan, PhD, is a Geochemist at Nesher Israel Cement Enterprises LTD, where responsibilities include assessing the quality of Source Materials, Clinker, and Portland Cement through mineralogical and chemical analyses. Additionally, Yigal serves as the co-leader of Rehovot For Bikes, a civilian movement promoting sustainable bicycle transportation with over 500 members. Previous roles include serving as a Scientific Advisor through the MIMSHAK Fellowship at the Ministry of Health and the Israel Water Authority, focusing on water supply and quality in desalination. Academic credentials include a PhD and MSc in Geochemistry from the Weizmann Institute of Science and a B.Sc in Geology & Environmental Sciences from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Prior research experience encompasses significant roles at the Weizmann Institute and involvement in projects addressing the geochronology and environmental impacts related to water resources.
