Demetri M. is currently the Head Alpine Ski Coach at Brown University and the Founder and CEO of Nephrogen, a biotech company focused on curative gene therapies for kidney diseases, which emerged from academic research and participation in entrepreneurial programs such as Y Combinator and Stanford-StartX. Previously, Demetri competed as a professional athlete for the Cyprus National Ski Team, achieving top national rankings and participating in international FIS races, including finishing 39th in giant slalom at the 2021 FIS World Alpine Ski Championships and serving as the first alternate for the 2022 Winter Olympics. Academic achievements include a Master of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Computational Biology from Stanford University, complemented by research roles at various institutions, including Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital, focusing on gene therapy and kidney tissue engineering.
