In 2015, they worked as a summer research intern at the Centro de Investigaciones en Ciencia Aplicada y TecnologÃa Aplicada. Following this, they interned at the American Diabetes Association, where they helped organize a charity walk event.
In 2016, Arlette worked as an undergraduate research assistant at the d'Arbeloff Robotics Lab at MIT, focusing on the design and testing of an underwater micro drone prototype. Arlette also gained experience as a mechanical engineering intern at Fermilab, where they designed a PID controller for a straw-tube tracker used in the Mu2e experiment. Additionally, they served as a product manager for the Red Team in the 2.009 Product Engineering Processes class at MIT.
Arlette expanded their skill set by working as an educational technologist at MITx on edX, assisting faculty and staff in developing course content and managing online courses. In 2017, they joined Gaia Elements as a mechanical engineer before transitioning to a role as a mechatronic engineer at Contour Crafting Corporation in 2018.
