Firas Abuzaid has a diverse work experience, beginning with a Research Assistant role at the University of North Texas in 2008. In 2011, they worked as a Software Engineer at Lab126 and a Teaching Assistant, Teaching Fellow and Section Leader at Stanford University. In 2012, they were an Android Developer at Clinkle, and in 2018 they held Expert Consultant for Technical Patent Litigation at Shearman & Sterling LLP and Research Consultant at Facebook. In 2019, they were a Research Intern at Microsoft, and in 2020 they became Co-Founder & CTO of Neo.Tax, where they automated R&D tax credits and gave startups an extra month of burn, with up to $250k/year back in refunded payroll taxes.
Firas Abuzaid began their education with the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science. Firas then attended Stanford University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 2013, followed by a Master of Science in Computer Science in 2015. In 2015, they transferred to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science in 2016. Firas then returned to Stanford University, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science in 2022. In addition, they have obtained certifications in Functional Programming Principles in Scala from Coursera in 2013 and an additional certification from Coursera in an unknown year.
