Angelica Castañon is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in public policy and education. Currently serving as a Senior Program Specialist at NEA since January 2013, Castañon focuses on enhancing child and adolescent outcomes by addressing barriers to learning, with a strong emphasis on school nutrition, instructional support, classroom environment, and outdoor safety. Prior experience includes a tenure as a Commissioner for Advisory Neighborhood Commission 1A, where Castañon represented over 2,000 constituents on various public policy issues. Castañon's background also includes roles in educational policy and research, consulting on income mobility, and involvement in early childhood education through AmeriCorps VISTA.
