Skip Tusa has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Skip began their career in 1977 as a Senior Enlisted in the US Navy and served until 1997. In 1977, they also started working at Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC as a Purchasing Buyer, where they managed key commodities and materials worth $150.0 million for multiple plant locations in North America. Skip remained in this role until 2009.

In 1994, Skip Tusa also worked as an Adjunct Instructor at Cuyahoga Community College until 1996. Skip continued their teaching career by becoming an Adjunct Instructor at Lorain County Community College from 2005 to 2009 and Bowling Green State University from 2005 to 2007.
