Shelley Vinyard has a diverse work experience. In 2008, they worked as a Campus and Volunteer Organizer for Progressive Future, where they ran a voter registration drive on the University of Michigan's campus and worked on voter engagement in New Hampshire and Colorado. From 2008 to 2010, they served as a State Associate for Environment America, focusing on promoting climate change solutions and protecting the Great Lakes through media outreach, coalition engagement, and grassroots mobilization. From 2010 to 2011, they worked as a Toxics Advocate for Environment America, followed by a role as a Clean Water Advocate from 2011 to 2013, where they coordinated a campaign to close loopholes in the Clean Water Act. Additionally, they served as the Midwest Regional Director for Environment America from 2013 to 2014, collaborating with state organizations in the Midwest on various initiatives. In 2014, they briefly held a position as the Colorado Regional Director for Work for Progress. From 2015 to 2017, they worked as the Regional Director for The Public Interest Network. Most recently, they joined the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) in 2017, initially serving as the Boreal Corporate Campaign Manager before being promoted to Boreal Corporate Campaign Director in 2023. Outside of their formal work experience, they volunteered as the Hiring Committee Chair for Councilmember Zachary Parker's transition team in 2022, leading the recruitment and hiring process for their full-time staff.
Shelley Vinyard earned a B.S./B.A. degree in Psychology, Sociology, Middle Eastern Studies, and Norwegian from The University of Texas at Austin. Shelley attended the university from 2004 to 2008.
