Kiki Velez is an experienced advocate focused on equitable gas distribution infrastructure and energy affordability at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) since September 2021. As the Equitable Gas Distribution Infrastructure Planning Advocate, Kiki minimizes stranded utility assets through policy work and collaborative initiatives in California and Colorado. Previous roles include serving as a Schneider Fellow at NRDC, a Research Associate at Common Spark Consulting, and a Researcher at the Building Decarbonization Coalition, where Kiki contributed to significant reports and advocacy plans for building decarbonization. Kiki's background also encompasses internships with the California Energy Commission and BlueGreen Alliance Foundation, as well as organizing efforts with the Sunrise Movement. Kiki holds a Bachelor of Science in Atmosphere and Energy Engineering from Stanford University.
