Nikki Fox

United States Exploration Committee Member at National Speleological Society

Nikki Fox is currently a United States Exploration Committee Member at the National Speleological Society. Nikki has always had a passion for photography and started their career as a Photo Lab Assistant at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln from January 1998 to May 2000. There, they taught Photojournalism 101 college students basic and advanced camera operation, ordered and mixed wet darkroom chemicals, maintained computers and lighting equipment in the digital darkroom, ran lab scheduling, checked out and took returns on photo gear, and was a guest lecturer/teacher on occasion.

In May 2019, Nikki began teaching yoga at Rocktown Hot Yog where they fine-tuned their Hot Yoga teaching techniques. Nikki led students through 60 and 90 minute Hot Yoga classes, instructed proper technique in postures, and gave encouragement and created a positive space for students to grow. In October 2018, Nikki became the Director of Photography at the Daily News-Record where they were responsible for the photography department’s budget, staff assignments, workflow, training, and equipment maintenance. Nikki also oversaw the photo desk staff who edited and captioned photos for publication. Prior to that, Nikki was the Chief Photographer at the Corbin Times-Tribune from January 2003 to March 2005. There they managed the photography staff, assigned stories, edited photos, and designed pages. Nikki got their start in photojournalism as an intern at the Gaston Gazette from September 2002 to January 2003.

Nikki Fox has a Bachelor's degree from the College of Journalism & Mass Communications at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Nikki also has a 250-hour Hot Yoga RYT certification from Evolation Yoga. Nikki has no formal education in Fine Arts, but they have studied at FIRP (Faculdades Integradas Riopretense) Universidade in São José do Rio Preto, Brazil.

Nikki Fox reports to Jason Ballensky, United States Exploration Committee Chair. They are on a team with Hans Bodenhamer - United States Explation Committee Member, David Black - United States Exploration Committee Member, and Stan Alison - United States Exploration Committee Member.
