Mvuyo Makhasi is a PhD Candidate with extensive experience in data management and research within the field of communicable diseases. Currently serving as a Data Manager and Associate Researcher at the National Institute for Communicable Diseases since September 2017, Makhasi has also contributed as an MSc Fellow at the Center for Respiratory Diseases and Meningitis, notably conducting a pilot study using wearable proximity sensors in South Africa. Prior experience includes a role as an EMV Technical Specialist at Investec, specializing in cryptography and payment network software development, and as a Student Research Engineer at the Meraka Institute, CSIR. Makhasi holds multiple degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand, complemented by certifications in data analysis and epidemiology.
