Heather Peske is an accomplished education leader currently serving as President of the National Council on Teacher Quality since May 2022. Previously, Heather held the role of Senior Associate Commissioner at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education from February 2013 to September 2022, where responsibilities included managing the Center for Instructional Support and focusing on curriculum, educator preparation, and support for English Learners. Additional experience includes serving as Vice President for Programs at Teach Plus, Director of Teacher Quality at The Education Trust, and various roles at Harvard University Graduate School of Education. Early career roles include School Director at Teach For America and positions at the Minnesota Children's Museum and East Baton Rouge Parish School System. Heather's career is characterized by a commitment to improving educational outcomes for students, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds.
