Wanja Mbuthia has a diverse work experience in various roles within the media industry. Wanja began their career as a Communications Specialist at The Cradle, where they monitored media, documented fact-finding missions, and managed the NGO's website and social media platforms. Wanja then moved on to Standard Media Group PLC, where they served as a Digital Lifestyle Sub-editor and Content Creator. In this role, they developed a content planner, increased the website's organic traffic, and shifted the reader demographic to focus more on women. Wanja also worked at Nation Media Group as a Contributing Writer and later as an Audience Engagement Producer, where they successfully rebranded social media platforms and increased engagement. Wanja also played a key role in the growth of the Pishi Africa community as a Content Manager. Currently, they hold a position as an Adjunct Lecturer at The Catholic University of Eastern Africa. Overall, Wanja has demonstrated their expertise in social media management, content creation, audience engagement, and communications.
Wanja Mbuthia completed their Bachelor's degree in Journalism at Multi Media University of Kenya in 2015. Wanja then pursued a Master of Arts degree in Communication and Media Studies at the University of Nairobi, which they obtained in 2021. In 2023, Wanja is scheduled to complete a Post-graduate Diploma in Global Challenges at The University of Edinburgh. Additionally, they hold an accreditation as a member of the Media Council of Kenya and is a full member of AMWIK Kenya.
