Peter Panetta is a highly experienced aerospace professional currently serving as the Senior Technical Leader for Safety at NASA Engineering and Safety Center (NESC) since January 2023. Previously, Peter held various leadership roles at NASA Headquarters from August 2003 to December 2022, including Senior Safety & Mission Assurance Manager for the Science Mission Directorate and the Assistant Director for Missions in Planetary Science. Earlier in their career at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Peter was the Advanced Spacecraft Technology Program Manager and a Senior Systems Engineer. Peter's educational background includes multiple master's degrees in Aeronautics & Astronautics Systems, Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, as well as a Master of Science in Business Administration, Management and Operations from the MIT Sloan School of Management. Additionally, Peter earned a certificate in Transformative Leadership in Disruptive Times from The George Washington University.
