Peter Coen is currently a Project Manager for Commercial Supersonic Tech at NASA. Prior to this, they were an Intern for Robotics and Mobility at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory from April 2017 to December 2017. There, they worked on high speed flight for quadrotor robots, specifically focusing on the trajectory planning and control algorithms for the system to be able to fly at high speeds, close to obstacles and adhering to dynamic constraints. The project involved work from the hardware through multiple layers of controls up to graphical user interfaces.

Before their work at NASA, Peter Coen was a student at the University of Sydney where they obtained their PhD in Autonomous Navigation Systems Research. Peter also chaired (2016/17) and was a committee member (2010-2016) for AIAA Sydney Section. Additionally, they were a Mentor Lead for Zero Robotics from March 2014 to February 2018 and a Student Intern for Events and Innovation Working Groups as well as a contributing author for The Prototype at The Warren Centre for Advanced Engineering from March 2014 to March 2017.

Peter Coen attended the University of Sydney, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical/Space Engineering. Peter also holds an engineering degree in Aeronautical (Space) from the same institution. Prior to their tertiary studies, they completed their HSC at The Illawarra Grammar School, where they studied mathematics extension 2, cosmology, physics, chemistry, English advanced, and French continuers.
