Charles Chen has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over three decades. Charles most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer at Nando's Malaysia, a position they have held since October 2021. Prior to this, they were the Chief Financial Officer at Nando's Malaysia from January 2019 to September 2021.

Before joining Nando's Malaysia, Charles held various leadership positions in reputable companies. Charles served as the Chief Financial Officer at ASTRO GS Shop Sdn Bhd from November 2015 to December 2016. Prior to that, they were the Vice President at Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad from September 2014 to October 2015.

Charles also gained significant experience at Tai Thong Resources Berhad/Palmgold Corporation, where they served as the COO and Group Finance Director from May 2011 to August 2014. Additionally, they had a brief role in the finance department at DiGi Telecommunications in 2010.

Charles'searlier experiences include roles at Telenor ASA, DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd, Berjaya Group Berhad, EAC Holdings Berhad, and D&C Bank Berhad. These roles encompassed treasury management, finance, M&A, and senior executive positions, highlighting their broad expertise in the field.

Charles Chen attended Deakin University from 1984 to 1986, where they obtained a Bachelor of Business degree with a specialization in Accounting. Prior to that, they attended La Salle Petaling Jaya from 1978 to 1982. No degree or field of study was specified for their time at La Salle Petaling Jaya.
