Mike Riopel

Naiop Research Foundation - Chair - Industry Trends Meeting at NAIOP

Mike Riopel started their work experience in 2014 as the Director of Debt, Acquisitions, Dispositions & Attorney at Wangard Partners, Inc. There, they were responsible for negotiating and closing real estate financing and purchase/sale transactions. Mike also analyzed capital structures and advised on legal and tax considerations. In 2017, they joined Husch Blackwell as a Real Estate Finance & Development Attorney, where they utilized their experience and expertise to help clients with complex transactions and financing issues. In 2019, Riopel transitioned to Northwestern Mutual as the Assistant General Counsel - Real Estate Investments. In this role, they worked in the legal aspect of real estate investments. Additionally, Riopel held various positions in advisory boards and committees, such as the Marquette University Center for Real Estate and the "I Have A Dream" Foundation. Mike also served on the board of directors for NAIOP Wisconsin and the Marquette Business Alumni Association. Riopel is also involved in the NAIOP Research Foundation, where they contributed as both a governor and a visionary.

Mike Riopel holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on Commercial Real Estate & Finance from Marquette University. Mike also obtained a Juris Doctorate degree in Law from Marquette University Law School. In addition to their formal education, Mike engaged in a study abroad program in Dubai, UAE, through the University of Minnesota.

Mike has also earned several certifications to further their professional development. Mike obtained the Forward 48 | Civic Leadership Badge from Forward 48 in October 2021. In May 2020, they completed advanced studies in CRE Development and Real Estate Finance from NAIOP, an institution specializing in real estate education.
