Falyn Owens

Extension Wildlife Biologist at N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission

Falyn Owens is an accomplished wildlife biologist with extensive experience in human-wildlife interactions and conflict mitigation. Currently serving as an Extension Wildlife Biologist for the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission since March 2017, Falyn specializes in statewide communications, program coordination, and outreach. Previous roles include Urban Wildlife Biologist for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, where responsibilities encompassed liaison work with municipalities and citizens to promote sustainable land management and urban wildlife practices. Falyn has also contributed to deer management research in Indiana, conducted demographic studies on threatened species, and engaged in numerous academic and practical wildlife studies during the educational journey, earning a Master’s degree in Renewable Natural Resources from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Mary Washington.
