Andrew Morten has worked in the software engineering and artificial intelligence fields since 2009. In 2018, they began working for Mythic as a Principal Compiler Software Engineer, a role they held until the present day. Andrew also held the roles of Senior Staff Compiler Software Engineer, Staff Compiler Software Engineer, Senior Compiler Software Engineer, and Software Engineer, Mathematical Optimization at Mythic. In 2018, Andrew began working for Insight Data Science as an Artificial Intelligence Fellow. Prior to 2018, Andrew worked at the University of Michigan, where they held the roles of Research Associate, Graduate Student Research Assistant, and Graduate Student Instructor. As a Research Associate, Andrew produced and analyzed over 20 terabytes of fluid dynamics simulation output using a high performance computing cluster. As a Graduate Student Research Assistant, they produced and analyzed over 100 terabytes of fluid dynamics simulation output and derived a diagnostic for studying transfers of energy between time scales in turbulence. As a Graduate Student Instructor, Andrew taught ten undergraduate level physics lab classes and created and presented mini-lectures, designed quizzes, and graded lab work.
Andrew Morten received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics from the University of Michigan in 2015. Prior to that, they completed their B.A in Physics with a Mathematics minor from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2005.
