Jesse Smith (He/Him)

Senior Instructor, Collaboration Design Institute at MURAL

Jesse Smith has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Jesse began their career as the Technical Director at Tufts University from 2004 to 2008. From there, they moved on to roles at Luethi Peterson Camps as the Director from 2000 to 2012. Jesse then transitioned to the theater industry, working at Portland Center Stage as the Associate Technical Director from 2008 to 2013, the Scenic Production Manager from 2013 to 2014, and the Technical Director from 2014 to 2014.

After their time in theater, Jesse joined Guild as the Fabrication Director from 2015 to 2016. Jesse then worked at EYELEVEL as the Development Engineering Manager from 2016 to 2020. Jesse later joined Portland Design Thinkers as an Advisor from 2019 to 2020. Most recently, they are employed at LUMA Institute as an Instructor from 2020 to 2022. Jesse is currently working as a Senior Instructor at Mural starting from 2022.

Jesse Smith (He/Him) obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Technical Direction from Emerson College, where they studied from 1995 to 1999. Jesse further pursued their education and obtained a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) in Technical Direction from the University of Connecticut, completing their studies from 2001 to 2004. Additionally, in April 2019, they obtained a Luma Practitioner Certification from the LUMA Institute.
