Brecken Blackburn is a seasoned professional in the field of biomedical engineering and photonics, currently serving as the Chief Science Officer and Co-Founder at both Lighthanded Enterprises and North Coast Photonics since January 2019 and January 2021, respectively. Blackburn has successfully secured $1.3 million in National Science Foundation SEED/SBIR funding for the development of Brillouin spectroscopy techniques. In addition to entrepreneurial endeavors, Blackburn is a Postdoctoral Researcher and former Graduate Research Fellow at Case Western Reserve University since September 2015. Previous leadership roles include Electrical Team Leader and Vice President at Cornell Engineering World Health and a Research Assistant at both Cornell University SonicMEMS Research Lab and BioMicroSystems Laboratory. Blackburn holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Cornell University.
