Richard Utecht has worked in a variety of roles since 2000. Richard began as a Bookstore Webmaster and Marketing Assistant at North Dakota State University, where they organized online store operations, oversaw the creation and integration of the bookstore's first eCommerce system, and coordinated management activities between departments. In 2005, they became a Student Advisor at Kanda University of International Studies. In 2007, they were a Senior Systems Developer at The CE Shop, Inc. and in 2008 they were a Resource Coordinator at The Boeing Company. From 2013-2015, they were a Software Developer and Systems Engineer Level 2 at The CE Shop, Inc., and from 2015-present they have been the Senior Director of Engineering at Movista, where they have been the technical lead of the integration of auto scaling micro and nano services across multiple cloud providers.

Richard Utecht obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in International Business from Minnesota State University Moorhead between 2003 and 2006. Richard also obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in East Asian Studies from the same university during the same time period. In 2004 and 2005, they were a Foreign Exchange Student at Kanda University of International Studies, where they studied Japanese Language.
