Illya E. Davis has a diverse work experience in the field of academia. Illya E. began their career in 2005 as a professor of philosophy at Clark Atlanta University, where they also served as the Associate Director of the Honors Program from 2014 to 2016. In 2009, they also worked as an adjunct professor of philosophy at Morehouse College. In 2016, they joined Morehouse College as a professor and later took on the role of Director of Freshmen and Seniors' Academic Success.

Illya E. Davis has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Morehouse College. They also have a Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.) in Religion/Religious Studies from Harvard Divinity School. Additionally, Illya E. Davis pursued further education in Philosophy of Religion at the University of Chicago.
