Dean Sven Carlson

Senior Director, Global Programming Operations at Mood Media

Dean Sven Carlson has a diverse and extensive work experience in the music industry. Dean Sven is currently working as the Senior Director of Global Programming Operations at Mood Media since 2022. Prior to that, from 2020 to 2022, they served as the Global Catalog Manager at Octave Group.

Dean has also worked at PlayNetwork from 2012 to 2020, where they held the position of Manager/Music Services. In this role, they led a team of Music Supervisors and was responsible for curation, programming, procurement, and song-level metadata. Dean Sven managed client relationships for creative branding and music experience.

Before joining PlayNetwork, Dean worked at Mood Media as a Senior Audio Architect from 2003 to 2011. Dean Sven curated a broad variety of music programming, products, and services for the audio branding corporation.

Prior to that, from 2002 to 2010, they served as a Producer/Host at Fusion Radio, where they provided leadership, creative guidance, and curation for an internationally syndicated radio show. Dean Sven also worked as a Volunteer Coordinator at Decibel Festival from 2006 to 2009, managing a large all-volunteer staff.

Dean's earlier experiences include working as a Music Director at Loudeye Technologies/The Dial from 2000 to 2003 and as a Music Director/Host at Entercom from 1993 to 2000. In these roles, they curated and maintained diverse digital music content, managed on-air programming, and collaborated with record labels and concert promoters.

Throughout their career, Dean has demonstrated strong leadership skills and a wide range of expertise in music programming, curation, and management. Their contributions have been recognized with awards such as Adult Alternative Music Director of the Year - The Gavin in 1996 and 1999, and Friday Morning Quarterback in 1997.

From 2002 to 2003, Dean Sven Carlson attended the University of Washington, where they studied Digital Audio Production.
